International Symposium for Cross-Cultural, Practice-Oriented Projects in Teaching and Research
TU Berlin, Alemania
Noviembre 29 a Diciembre 1°
Early Bird Registration: until October 15th, 2012.
This symposium gathers for the first time key organisers and participants of outstanding DesignBuild-Studios, a teaching and research model focusing on the realisation of building projects going all the way from design to the process of building by the students themselves. It is organised by CoCoon, an academic sector for teaching, research and practice in an intercultural and interdisciplinary context based at the Department of Architecture, TU Berlin.
With speakers and participants from universities, governments and development organisations from all around the world, this symposium aims at identifying obstacles, problems, solutions and best practices, establishing DesignBuild-Studios as a study and research model in architectural education in connection with international cooperation and community building projects. It also aims at creating a platform to explore and reinforce the productive synergies of the engaged parties.
Organised in cooperation with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Habitat Unit and the Sto Foundation the symposium will be attended by around 150 participants, with over 40 speakers from different universities and institutions from Asia, Africa, Arab Countries, North and South America, Oceania and Europe.
Amongst the confirmed speakers are Sergio Palleroni (BaSIC Initiative, U.S.), Eike Roswag (ZRS Architekten Ingenieure, Holcim and Aga Khan Awards winner), Alfredo Brillembourg and Hubert Klumpner (Urban Think Tank Venezuela-Switzerland, Holcim Award and Venice Biennale Golden Lion winners); Steve Badanes (Jersey Devil; Neighbourhood Design/Build Studio, U.S.), and Andres Lepik (Curator of Small Scale, Big Change exhibition at MoMA, N.Y.).
The symposium is addressed to everyone working in the realm of architecture, engineering, international development, social sciences and people working in the cultural field.
